AfPP Siobhan Rankin Perioperative Team of the Year Award

Entry Criteria

This award is open to teams of up to 15 working in anaesthetics, scrub, surgery or recovery, at any level or role. Entry must be submitted by one team member, however all team members need to have agreed to take part and the application must be agreed with the Theatre Manager who may or may not be part of the team. 

The winning team will receive a £2,000 educational grant to be used by the team within a designated 12 month period. The grant must be spent on an educational event, resource, course or programme which will enable the team members listed to meet personal development goals. Each team member will be sent a certificate, and will also receive 1 year's AfPP membership (or a year’s free membership if already a member, which will run from their next renewal date).

Categories for applications:

INNOVATION: Introduction or new way of using a new medical device, leading to a change in working practice which results in enhanced patient care

BEST PRACTICE: New ways of sharing best practice to illustrate a more efficient working perioperative environment

SAFETY: Introduction of equipment, procedure or practice which improves patient and/or theatre staff protection

Criteria for Application

(a) At least one of the applicants must be an AfPP member, with a maximum of 15 team members to be listed.

(b) Submissions must fall into one of the three categories listed

(c) Submissions must be the original work of the team applying

(d) A report must be submitted by the winning team following presentation of the award, for possible inclusion in either the AfPP Newsletter or the Journal of Perioperative Practice. (The report must be in electronic format)

(e) Funding must be claimed within 12 months of the grant being awarded.

(f) AfPP must be informed if the funding awarded is no longer required.

(g) Funds will not be paid out without original receipts or invoices being submitted.

(h) Funding is not transferable.

(i) This procedure is not exhausted; Trustees will review and monitor the procedure as and when required (not less than 3 years).
