Entry requirements:

Applicants must be a minimum 18 years of age on entry to the programme, and have 5 separate GCSE’s (at grade C or above) or equivalent.

Students are offered a place subject to a satisfactory health clearance and a Criminal Records Bureau check.

Diploma of Higher Education in Operating Department Practice

The Diploma of Higher Education in Operating Department Practice is a two year programme which requires the student to undertake clinical placements alongside the theoretical components of study.

This programme is delivered as a Pathway within the Pre-registration Interprofessional Learning Programme and students will receive an interprofessional learning approach throughout the two years of the diploma.

The taught component of the pathway is delivered at the Chatham Campus, where students will undertake three interprofessional modules shared with all pathways in the first year.

In addition, students will undertake two profession specific modules and share one common module with nursing and midwifery students.

In year two of the programme, students will undertake one common module shared with all pathways and five profession specific modules.
