Notes for media buyers

AfPP is a dynamic organisation with membership of over 8,000 and recruits nurses and other personnel working in the perioperative environment encompassing most sectors with an interest in surgery and perioperative care.

Journal of Perioperative Practice

The Journal of Perioperative Practice (JPP) is the monthly journal of the Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP). It is an informative professional journal which keeps members of AfPP and other staff working in the perioperative environment and sterile service departments informed of clinical, management and educational developments.

Each member of AfPP receives a copy of the JPP each month and in addition there are over 500 individuals and institutions who subscribe to the Journal giving a print run of around 8,500.

Readership of the JPP

The Journal of Perioperative Practice is read by theatre nurses, Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs), theatre managers, other theatre staff including students, healthcare support workers, and supplies and purchasing managers. Readership figures are in the region of 20,000 people.

Receiving a copy of the JPP is one of the main reasons for membership of AfPP.

The perioperative area covers anaesthetics, theatres and recovery and it is an area of a hospital which requires a large amount of sophisticated equipment as well as using a significant volume of consumable items. The theatre manager and other senior theatre staff are key budget holders and decision makers in the buying process. For this reason manufacturers and suppliers of products used in the perioperative department find the journal an invaluable medium for reaching this important target group.
