Patient Safety in Theatre Teams – A Practical Approach to Human Factors
The Royal College of Surgeons are looking for a theatre practitioner to work in their Patient Safety in Theatre Team with them on their new multi-professional course that has been specifically designed for the theatre team. It utilises the newly opened facilities fitted with the latest technology in simulation.
As a member of the skills training team you will help to facilitate the focus of the participants on the non-technical skills, or human factors, of the team in order to maximise the safety of patients and the clinical success of operations. By using simulated mannequins and multimedia facilities, the course will be largely practical with each team being involved in a number of theatre-based scenarios and the feedback designed to help each individual team member work more effectively with their colleagues and as a team.
The commitment to this role is a minimum of six days over a period of time for the initial training with the opportunity for a further two days to gain the train the trainer qualification for this role. Funding will be given to support your time and out of pocket expenses.
In order to apply you will need to meet the following criteria:
· Have a minimum of two years post registration experience
· Be currently working in clinical practice
· Be working in either anesthetics or the scrub role
· Be a registered practitioner with the NMC or HPC
