Effective Teams - Do They Save Lives??

This course is offered in partnership with Atrainability

The training and engagement sessions will be running, with the same content, in 3 countries – and is available  free of charge to AfPP members.

1. Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, South Wales - Saturday 4 September

2. Royal Alexandra Hospital, Glasgow, West of Scotland – Saturday 18 September

3. Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, Northern Ireland – Saturday 20 November

These events will focus on raising awareness of the significance of non-technical skills within a modern healthcare service. The day takes the same format at each of the sessions and will look at promoting team working in the clinical environment; involving a closer look at team communication, effectiveness of a clinical leader, briefing and debriefing techniques and encouraging these skills to foster within the culture of the NHS.

This is a highly interactive session delving into effective teamworking utilising the experience and opinions of the participants as a basis. Concepts such as the relevance of Emotional Intelligence will be introduced. It will also emphasise the cost-effectiveness of an error-reducing culture and incorporate best practice from the WHO/NPSA operating theatre checklist guidelines.

But don’t just take our word for it. 100% of people who gave us feedback rated the training as good or excellent and here’s what some of the attendees thought of the session when we ran it in Anglia in April earlier this year:

It was an excellent course, good interaction and well presented. This was a fantastic training event. Excellent and have implemented 2 of the ideas into our theatres with good effect.”

“I think this was an excellent study event for all theatre staff who are interested in doing a good job for the benefit of the patient. Thanks for a great training opportunity.”

Up to 50 free places are available for each event for AfPP members. They will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
