Safe practice highlighted in new AfPP publication
The Association for Perioperative Practice has launched the 2007 edition of its flagship publication “Standards and Recommendations for Safe Perioperative Practice”. The 2004 edition, which this comprehensive update replaces, became widely-acknowledged as the benchmark guidance for practice in the perioperative environment.
The 2007 edition of ‘Standards’, as the publication is known to perioperative practitioners, includes sections and updated guidance on:
- Legal and ethical issues
- Risk management
- Infection control
- Decontamination
- Principles of anaesthetics
- Clinical effectiveness
- Management and human resources
In addition to these areas new sections include:
- Correct site surgery
- Education
- Latex
- Normothermia
