Angela started her career in health as a Healthcare Assistant in the HM Forces in 1988 and qualified as a Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) in the Armed forces in 1993.
During her time in the forces, she developed a wide range of proven experience within all areas of the operating theatre and hospital environments. Specialist areas include anaesthetics, surgery, laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy and sterile services, post anaesthetic care unit with additional qualifications as Surgical First Assistant.
After leaving the forces, Angela was employed in Haslar and Queen Alexander's hospital, Portsmouth, and Frimley Park, Surrey and was given the opportunity to commence higher education study. She successfully completed numerous HE modules resulting in lots of letters after her name.
Angela currently works at the University of Suffolk as a lecturer in Operating Department Practice, a role that includes course leadership, curriculum and course development and facilitating on a variety of modules and healthcare courses.
During this time she has maintained an active role with AfPP including past Anglia Regional Lead; member of various AfPP committees; journal peer reviewer; contributor to AfPP standards and regular author for the journal. She has also delivered bespoke perioperative education for the organisation and undertakes clinical perioperative audits ensuring National and International standards are maintained.
