Novice Writer Award
In memory of David Pidduck
To be eligible for nomination, the author must not have had an article published in the Journal of Perioperative Practice (JPP) previously and the article must not have been published in any other journal. All articles must be the original work of the author. Please be aware, former board/trustee members or staff members of AfPP will not be entered for the award and authors must be a resident of the United Kingdom.
The winner is selected by the review panel of the JPP and will be given an all expenses paid place (excluding travel expenses) at the next AfPP Annual Conference to receive their award, together with a certificate and a copy of AfPP’s Standards and Recommendations for Safe Perioperative Practice.
Judging criteria includes:
- A work which is clearly within the editorial scope and remit of the JPP
- Rigour in terms of argument or analysis
- Relevance to practice and perhaps an indication of further research
- Up to date and demonstrating that the latest/ key works in the field have been cited
- Excellent structure and well written.
The Novice Writer Award was launched in 2004 to commemorate David Pidduck, who served as the editor of the AfPP Newsletter from 2002 – 2004. David encouraged many novice writers to submit articles for the Newsletter and Journal of Perioperative Practice (JPP) and in recognition of this AfPP decided to dedicate the annual Novice Writers’ Award in his honour.
