Our Postgraduate Diploma in Infection Control is an advanced qualification designed to equip nurses and other healthcare professionals with a comprehensive understanding of infectious disease control and prevention in hospital, social care and community settings. The course examines key areas including microbiology, immunology, public health and communicable disease control. As well as learning about the nature of communicable disease and how to develop strategies for surveillance, control and prevention you will gain an understanding of the essential principles of research design.

Introduction to Medical Microbiology and Immunology (30 credits)
Public Health and Communicable Disease Control (30 credits)
Applied Microbiology and Public Health (30 credits)
Research Methods (30 credits)

Entry requirements:
1. Academic Entry Route:
Our applicants are usually registered nurses or health care professionals in full or part-time employment with a minimum of two years post-registration experience and access to a clinical microbiology department.
In addition, applicants normally have an Upper Second Class Bachelors degree in a relevant or appropriate subject, or the equivalent from an internationally recognised institution.
2. Open Entry Route:
We recognise that many people have a wealth of valuable skills and knowledge developed at work or through training. If you don't meet the above entry requirements, but believe you have the potential to succeed on the PG Dip Infection Control course, we'll consider your application on its individual merits.
