Objectives:
In the current healthcare climate we understand that writing for publication can be the furthest thing from practitioners’ minds. However, with significant advances within perioperative care delivery, evolving roles and the current and future economic, political and social climate, the need to disseminate relevant information is essential to promote high quality evidence-based practice and care delivery.
This informal writing workshop is aimed at novice authors who may be nurses, operating department practitioners or new academics within these disciplines who have considered writing for publication in a healthcare journal but are unaware of the processes or where to start.
This workshop will address some of the challenges of submitting a paper through the peer-review process and you will have the opportunity and time to focus solely on developing your ideas and writing.
Please see programme below for full objectives of the day.
Topics covered include:-
- Why Publishing is important: from a professional and personal viewpoint
- Getting started and developing your initial idea
- Abstract Writing
- Writing skills and style
- Tools for planning your draft
