Wellbeing Support

We know that working within the perioperative environment is extremely rewarding but can also be stressful and bring unique challenges.

Poor mental health amongst healthcare staff and the effect it has on patient care is one of the most talked about issues in healthcare. Working within the perioperative environment is an extremely rewarding profession but we know that it can sometimes bring challenges. That’s why we have been looking at new ways to support our members.

All AfPP members have FREE access to a 24/7 anonymous online mental health and wellbeing service. The multi-award-winning service is provided by Togetherall and is designed to help you get support, take control and feel better. AfPP member's are able to sign up to Togetherall here.

Togetherall has a range of courses on a variety of topics to help people manage mental health difficulties and improve their health and wellbeing at a pace which suits them.

Courses are available to all members of Togetherall. Members can join a course anytime and can take as many as they like (although it’s recommended to do one at a time). Within each course, there are a variety of tools available which help members get the most out of each course. Take a look at some of the available courses below.

Togetherall also hosts dedicated spaces where members can continue to create meaningful and deeper connections around topics that are important to them. These smaller spaces are called “Groups”.

Specifically useful for AfPP Members, Togetherall has a Healthcare Workers Group, allowing you to interact with others around shared experiences or interests. You can be assured the people you are talking to within that group understand what you’re going through.

AfPP members can go to Togetherall for support with a wide range of mental health and wellbeing issues – from anxiety, depression, isolation and stress, to relationship problems and lifestyle challenges.

Challenging Behaviours

It is important to understand and acknowledge that bullying exists in the workplace.

Bullying can be professional and personal. We have prepared a document for AfPP members that aims to provide an understanding of the characteristics and behaviours of both the bully and the victim. It also aims to give you some tools with which you can fight back so you can stop yourself from being bullied.

As an AfPP member you are able to access the document here.
