Mental Health Support
We know that working within the perioperative environment is extremely rewarding but can also be stressful and bring unique challenges. This is even more apparent now, in these exceptional times, as we live through the Coronavirus crisis. It has been widely reported that the virus is taking its toll on the mental health of many healthcare professionals.
Poor mental health amongst nurses and the effect it has on patient care is one of the most talked about issues in healthcare. Working within the perioperative environment is an extremely rewarding profession but we know that it can sometimes bring challenges. That’s why we have been looking at new ways to support our members.
Challenging Behaviours
It is important to understand and acknowledge that bullying exists in the workplace.
Bullying can be professional and personal. We have prepared a document for AfPP members that aims to provide an understanding of the characteristics and behaviours of both the bully and the victim. It also aims to give you some tools with which you can fight back so you can stop yourself from being bullied.
As an AfPP member you are able to access the document here.
