AfPP Invites Perioperative Practitioners to Celebratory Summer Conference

The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) is this year inviting perioperative practitioners from across the UK to attend its Residential Conference, with places available to members for only £60 per day of education.

The event takes place at the University of York, 9-12 August 2018, and celebrates 60 years since AfPP founder Daisy Ayris was first inspired to establish the organisation during her visit to The Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) in the USA.

Perioperative practitioners can enjoy the chance to further their career through networking with like-minded clinicians and accessing up to two days of CPD-accredited education. For the first time this year, there will be a choice of three lecture streams - each exploring the patient’s journey through the perioperative pathway.

The event offers a diverse programme for all members of the multidisciplinary team, with topics including leadership, human factors, never events, surgical site infection, preoperative assessment, anaesthetics and recovery. In addition, there will be opportunities for informal networking, browsing over 40 exhibitors, and the chance to attend the prestigious Gala Dinner on Saturday evening.

Keynote speakers include award-winning inspirational speaker Penny Haslam; Airline and former Royal Air Force pilot Matt Lindley; and speaker, conference facilitator, dietician, author and French foodie, Celynn Erasmus.

Chief Executive Dawn Stott commented: “This year’s event promises to be truly inclusive, with the additional lecture stream enabling all perioperative practitioners to choose an education programme suited to their individual development. The Residential Conference will also see the launch of a new resource on negotiating the perioperative pathway: a tool we hope will be invaluable to both experienced practitioners and those new to their profession.”
