We’re passionate about supporting theatre practitioners at every stage of their career. We’re committed to supporting you throughout your time at university and to enhancing your learning journey. We want to do everything we can to help you reach your potential.
We understand that money’s tight when you’re a student so we have a special reduced subscription rate. You can benefit from this special price the whole time you’re studying.
Student membership is just £6.00 per month or £72 per year (only available to students on full-time pre-registration courses).
The only requirements are:
- That you’re eligible for registration upon qualification
- That you can provide us with confirmation of your place on a pre-registered course
The AfPP Student Award
As part of our commitment to students we’ve introduced a Student Award. Nominations for this prestigious award are via your university and are open to all final year students working in the perioperative environment. Universities are asked to identify their student of the year who’s presented with the award at their graduation ceremony and is given a free place at the next AfPP Annual Conference.
AfPP will ask the winning students to submit a report which may be included in our Innovation, People and Products (IPP) magazine.
If you’re in your final year, speak to your tutor to make sure they’re aware of the award!
AfPP’s ‘Go To’ Book for Students
Sharing Knowledge in the Perioperative Environment, AfPP’s ‘go to’ book for students, their mentors and newly qualified perioperative practitioners, aims to provide you with practical information, guidance and advice.
It also offers insight into the tools and support available to those undergoing learning and those supporting students.

I’ve attended several London study days and they’ve been brilliant for networking with other ODPs as well as fellow perioperative professionals from various Trusts. They’re great for keeping up to date with evidence-based practice as well as obtaining CPD hours.
Being a member of AfPP has had such a positive impact on my education and has helped me network with students and practitioners all over the UK.
AfPP is so beneficial to students because they gain access to a variety of useful research as well as receiving the monthly journals. I think it’s fabulous how they provide brilliant education events throughout the year which are totally free to students!
