2016

AfPP welcome their 7,000th member.

AfPP Residential continues its successful run with another sell out event in 2016 - over 300 Delegates and 38 exhibitors attend the University of York.

The Infection Prevention Society and AfPP hold their inaugural joint event - Working Together to Prevent Infection in the Surgical Patient Pathway.

 
 

2015

AfPP and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh hold their inaugural joint event - The Perioperative Practitioner: Advancing Surgical Care.

 

2014

AfPP celebrate their 50th Anniversary.

 

2013

AfPP reach 6,000 members.

Inaugural AfPP Residential event at the University of York.

 

2012

NAASP (National Association of Assistants in Surgical Practice) merges with AfPP.

AfPP is the founding partner, along with 3M of the ‘OneTogether’ programme to fight against healthcare acquired infection.

 

2010

AfPP Academy formed – our dedicated training arm designed to provide the highest quality bespoke clinical education to suit the needs of healthcare providers and medical device companies.

 
 

2006

3M Academy (professional development programme) launched, in collaboration with AfPP.

 

2005

NATN change name to AfPP. In April 2005 NATN changed its name, structures and systems in recognition of the significant changes that were happening in the healthcare sector and the wider perioperative environment. The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) was chosen to accommodate the growing numbers of Operating Department Practitioners and Healthcare Support Workers who were previously not eligible for full membership.

 

2002

NATN instrumental in establishing the Perioperative Care Collaborative (PCC). The PCC was formed with a clear aim to explore perioperative issues and reach a consensus view on how they should be addressed.

 
 

1985

Silver anniversary – 21 years old!

 

1983

NATN Education and Research Fellowship fund established (ERFF) to provide funding and bursaries for education and volunteer work – still helping practitioners today.

 
 

1978

Three members representing NATN attend the first world conference of theatre nurses arranged by AORN.

 

1977

First NATN Headquarters purchased – 22 Mount Parade, Harrogate.

 

1975

NATN rented their first office space.

 
 

1968

NATN theatre nursing and research fellowship formed.

 

1966

1,000th member.

 

1965

First editorial team established.

 

1964

NATN (National Association of Theatre Nurses) founded by Daisy Ayris MBE, a passionate ambassador for excellence in patient care and forward thinking theatre nurse.

Inaugural meeting held on 30 May 1964, following which 235 members had enrolled.
