Our History

It’s been 60 years since AfPP was founded by Daisy Aris, MBE, a forward-thinking theatre nurse who had the idea of bringing together like-minded clinicians to collectively improve patient safety in the operating theatre environment.

Since then, we have gone from strength to strength…

Our Board

AfPP’s board of trustees comprises up to seven trustees, electedfrom our membership, by our members, known as our Elected Trustees. Additionally we have up to four other trustees that are appointed by the board to fill gaps in knowledge and experience. These are known as Non-elected trustees. Both elected and non-elected trustees have equal standing in terms of their responsibilities to the charity.

Our trustees, which include our President, President Elect and Immediate Past President, all work hard to support our members and give practitioners a voice.
