Dawn has worked in healthcare for over 20 years, during that time she undertook an Open University business qualification, giving her the learning to underpin her knowledge and move into management.
Dawn worked for a private hospital group in various different roles; latterly project managing various assignments including IT implementations and new hospital builds.
When made redundant she called upon these skills to work freelance with a surgery in Harehills, Leeds commissioning their new surgery build. This insight gave her the desire to move into primary care and she accepted a job as Practice Manager for a busy 9,000 patient surgery in Headingly, Leeds. This has provided Dawn with an all round understanding of healthcare from primary care commissioning through to secondary care intervention.
In her spare time she undertakes freelance writing and has had various articles published in Management in Practice, however, as far as her fiction writing is concerned, she is still waiting for her big break!
She works as a volunteer with the Prince’s Trust mentoring young people embarking on new business ventures.
