Introduction

The following statement explains our policy regarding the personal information we collect about you. From time to time, you will be asked to submit personal information in order to receive, use or pay for services through our website. In this Statement, AfPP includes both the Association for Perioperative Practice and its wholly owned subsidiary company AfPP Limited.

The information we collect

Every time you visit our website and provide us with personally identifiable information we will record that information on our secure database.  This information may include your email address, home address, telephone number, employer and bank/credit/debit card information.  If you provide any personally identifiable information, AfPP is legally bound to comply with the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998.

Where personal information is held for those who are not members of AfPP but have been involved in other services (e.g. registration for an event), that information will be held only after permission has been provided.

How we use and share your information

The information you provide to AfPP is used to provide services to you and also allow you to pay for those services through our secure website. AfPP does not sell or rent personal information to third parties. AfPP may, with your permission, directly contact you in order to provide services from selected third parties. However, AfPP will not provide personally identifiable information to partner organisations.

Financial Information

In order to process direct debit, credit card or other financial transactions we may ask for your bank or card details. In order to do this, you will be directed to a secure part of our website. To ensure the maximum level of security is applied to your data, all transmissions over the internet to and from the secure website are encrypted using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer).

Cookies

When you visit the AfPP website we will send a file to your computer called a ‘cookie’. This is a small file containing information that allows us to recognise that you have used the site before. This file does not contain any personal data.

Security

The information we collect is held on a secure AfPP database which is subject to standard security protocols.  Third party providers responsible for website hosting and the processing of financial transactions are subject to strict contractual conditions regarding the use and security of personal information. They are also subject to the Data Protection Act 1998.
