Perioperative Team of the Year Award

Win an educational bursary of up to £2,000 

The Perioperative Team of the Year award recognises a perioperative team which has had a positive impact or made a meaningful difference through their work. The award recognises teams who have introduced a change, idea, or approach that improves patient safety, colleague experience, or service delivery. 

This award is for theatre teams of up to 15 individuals’ working in the perioperative environment.

The winning team will be awarded an educational bursary of £2,000 to be used within a designated 12 month period. The bursary must be spent on education, resources, courses or programmes which enable team members to meet team development goals. 

Criteria for Application

  • At least one of the applicants must be an AfPP paying member with at least 12months membership. 
  • A maximum number of 15 team members to be listed. 
  • Applications must fall into at least one of the following three categories;

a) Innovation: Introduction or a new way of using a new medical device, leading to a change in working practice resulting in enhanced patient care

b) Best Practice: New ways of sharing best practice to illustrate a more efficient perioperative working environment 

c) Safety: Introduction of equipment, procedure or practice which improves patient and/ or theatre team protection 

  • Applications must be the original work of the team applying. 
  • Those who receive the Perioperative Team of the Year Award may be contacted by the marketing team about your experience for possible publication in AfPP communications

  • Friday 27th November 2026

Terms & Conditions

  • Bursary is not transferable and must be used for the purpose stated on the application form. 
  • AfPP must be informed if the bursary awarded is no longer required. 
  • Bursary must be claimed within 9months.  
  • Funds will not be released until original receipts or invoices have been received by AfPP. 
  • Funding is not transferable. 
  • Each AfPP member can submit only one application for an award or bursary, this ensures that the opportunity is accessible to as many members as possible. 
  • Once a member receives an award, they are no longer eligible to apply for further awards in the future.  
  • Current AfPP board members, due to potential conflicts of interest, are excluded from applying for awards or bursaries. This ensures that the award process remains unbiased and transparent.
