The Association for Perioperative Practice (AfPP) will hold its Annual National Conference at the University of Warwick on 8-9 August 2025. New for this year is the introduction of a Wellbeing Studio and an interactive conference app, both designed to enhance the delegate experience and support the needs of perioperative professionals.
The Wellbeing Studio has been added in response to increasing awareness of the importance of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. The space will host a series of dedicated sessions that offer practical tools and strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and supporting colleagues.
Wellbeing sessions include:
- The Organisational Management of Traumatic Stress
- Turning Adversity into a Positive
- The 5-Minute Reset: EFT for Stress and Resilience in Fast-Paced Healthcare Environments
- Preventing Burnout and Promoting Wellbeing
- Stress Awareness and Management
- Schwartz Rounds – structured forums for reflective practice and emotional support
- Let’s Start a Conversation… – In this session, AfPP President Oliver Tierney will discuss mental health in the workplace and beyond. The presentation encourages open discussion, sharing of personal stories, and practical advice for setting up a Health and Wellbeing Team within departments
- Cadence: the Key to High Performance – a closing keynote exploring the connection between wellbeing and sustainable high performance
“These new additions are designed to give delegates not only valuable professional learning but also the space and support to focus on their personal wellbeing,” said Vicky Wong, AfPP Annual National Conference Event Lead. “Our aim is to create a more supportive and balanced experience for everyone attending.”
Also launching this year is the AfPP Annual National Conference App – an all-in-one digital tool designed to keep attendees connected and informed throughout the event. The app allows delegates to manage bookings, access schedules, take part in interactive features like points challenges, upload selfies, and more.
“This is all about enhancing the delegate experience,” Vicky added. “The app adds an interactive and fun layer to the conference, helping delegates make the most of their time with us.”
With the addition of these new features, the AfPP Annual National Conference continues to evolve to meet the needs of today’s perioperative practitioners. The event is one of the UK’s leading opportunities for networking, professional development, and now, personal wellbeing.
